Christmas Eve

December 24, 2020

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas for 2020. For once we will echo the edicts to “stay home”. At least tonight in the area of the Tail of the Dragon.

It is snowing as of 4 pm and the temps are dropping drastically. With the earlier rain this means slick roads are acoming. Stay home, fix some toddies and come visit when the weather moderates.

November 19, 2020

Weather is looking great for the next ten days. Now is the time to get in a few more days on our area roads before winter sets in. Highs in the 60s lows in the 30s. We might even hit a 70 degree day. Very little rain predicted. Our Tail of the Dragon T-shirt Shack remains open until November 29th.

November 10, 2020

We salute all of our Veterans on November 11th. Thank you for your service.

We are well into November and the weather remains great. Chilly nights and warm days in the 60-70s. Our Tail of the Dragon T-Shirt Shack and Killboy Photos will remain open as long as the weather holds. The local area roads remain open year round, so watch the weather and plan a winter trip.

September 28, 2020

Perfect weather today and not too crowded. The Space Coast Miatas returned ….. and Neale Bayley being photo bombed made it look like old home week. He brought a crew and their custom KTM Tail of the Dragon bike. More on this later.

September 12, 2020

The weather is beginning to change here in the mountains. The highs for next week will be dropping into the high 70s with lows in the low 50s. The afternoon thunderstorms seem to be dissipating. Looks like a great time to visit area roads.

September 1, 2020

It is hard to believe that September is here already. Still plenty of time to plan a trip to the area before any major weather changes take place.

It is great to hear that Fontana Village has reopened with cabins, motel, camping and dining available on Moonshiner 28 just 10 miles from the Tail of the Dragon.

The weather is looking perfect for the next week or so. Remember that summer days in the mountains can see scattered late afternoon showers that quickly dissipate.

Let’s close-out 2020 with some fun.

July 15, 2020

The summer has seen many cars and motorcycles enjoying our area roads. Be advised that the days have seen temps in the upper 80s so make sure you stay hydrated. You can get .50 cent waters at our Tail of the Dragon T-shirt Shack. Grab some to take with you. Also be aware that the typical summer weather forecast shows thunderstorms nearly every day. These are usually short lived, widely scattered afternoon showers that clear quickly.

NEW CUSTOM SIGNS Tail of the Dragon now offers custom signs featuring your favorite photo in both street sign format and shield format. These are proving to be a popular way of memorializing your trip to the Dragon. For street signs choose your sign color, custom text, and Email us the photo of your choice. Shield signs only require your photo.

In other news be aware that Fontana Village has not opened for the 2020 season. The Fontana Marina is open for business on Fontana Lake.

June 7, 2020

The Tail of the Dragon along with places to stop, eat, and stay are OPEN for business !!

We have had a number of inquiries about Fontana Village reopening. We now have official word that recent owners of Fontana Village have surrendered their leave back to TVA as of June 1.

TVA is actively looking at the future for Fontana Village Resort & Marina, but they do not have a planned opening date. There are a lot of details to work out between both businesses before any announcement can be made. The very limited staff continues to contact immediate reservations and we ask that you are patient as they work through this transition.

The Marina will continue to operate this summer 7 days per week 8am to 6pm.

If your group, small or big, would like to plan a trip to our area. Please visit our group planning page for more information: https://tailofthedragonresorts.com/bring-your-group/
